"You're going to be changed into a spidergirl."
"What," asked Jon. "Like Spiderman? Or something different?"
"More like number of limbs, rather than superpowers," said he nurse. "We're pretty advanced, but we're not at that point yet. We won't have true superpowers for a while yet."
"Oh," said Jon, disappointed. He had always liked Spiderman and, somehow, this was a bit of a let down.
"There are two main options that you could go for," said the nurse, showing him some photos of his estimated final form for each option. "One, you could have four arms and four legs. The second is that you could have six arms and the same number of legs you have now. Most people go for the second, so you wouldn't be as unique, but the first takes more physical therapy and his more difficult to use."
Jon looked at the pictures. He preferred the second option, six arms, and said so to the nurse. "Good choice," she said. "You'll look cute with four extra arms and there are a lot of people who would find you attractive. I know I would. And this is still somewhat preliminary. You can still change to another option and, if you do, let us know." The nurse closed the file and left the room. That night, Jon wondered if he had made the right choice.
