"Right, your friends. Um, remind me again why I need to get dressed for your friends?" Jon asked.
Zoe laughed at his question and just said, "Very funny, Jonnie. You know my mother doesn't like you flying around the house naked, and you promised you'd help us."
At this Jon acted like everything was normal and said, "Ok, I'll get dressed but could you point me in the direction of my clothes? They seem to be missing."
Zoe laughed again and, without warning, wrapped her hand around Jon's waist. She had abviously done this before because she was very careful not to touch his wings and was being very gentle. She walked him over to a desk where his bed was supposed to be. On the desk was a large dollhouse. She placed him in front of it and said, "There. Now seriously, please get dressed. For me?" She gave him a look of pure affection, like they had a strong bond, even stronger than the one they had when he was human. And oddly enough, he felt it too.
Apparently the wish wasn't done, it was still giving him memories of this reality. He was gaining memories of being trapped in a cage, Zoe helping him out of it, and bringing him to her house. Thinking back to his captivity, he remembered why. He and Karyn were two fairies who were captured and held hostage for a long time before Zoe came and rescued them.
"Wait, if Karyn was rescued too, then where is she?" Jon wondered. Just then the memory came to him. She was being taken care of by Zoe's friend Kate, who was one of the friends who were coming over. When Zoe brought Jon and Karyn home, Zoe's mother was a little nervous around them. She didn't really trust these two strange tiny winged women and even more, she didn't appreciate their nudity. She originally told Zoe to send them both back into the wild, which Jon and Karyn didn't want. They were grateful to Zoe and wanted to stay and help her with her life. Then, the night she was supposed to release them, the man who had kept them in cages and used them for his own sick purposes kicked in their door and held a gun to Zoe's mother. He threatened to kill everyone in the house if she didn't give up the fairies but Zoe refused. The gunman did as he said and shot Zoe's mom, killing her and was about to kill Zoe when Jon and Karyn came out of hiding and surrendered. When he reached out to pick them up, they used their magic to subdue him. As Zoe cried over her mother's body, Jon and Karyn flew over to comfort her but she brushed them aside yelling,
"Get out! I hate you! I wish I never found you!"
The two fairies looked at each other, nodded, and holding hands they flew up and hovered over Zoe's mom, chanting in their language. They performed an old fairy ritual that was forbidden in their world, a ritual that transferred life from one being to another. They used it to take their former tormentor's life and give it to Zoe's mother. Just performing it meant they were no longer welcome back and were now outcasts. When she awoke, Zoe's mother had no choice but to let them stay, with one condition. That condition was that only one of them would stay here. The other would stay with Zoe's best friend.
"Just what kind of fantasy is this?" Jon thought to himself, "Is this something she really wanted deep down?"
He would have to make sure to ask her when she arrived.
