It was getting a little late and the sun was already near the horizon, so Lisa decided to check herself into a hotel. She had enough money on hand for one night's stay (she ended up going to a cheap motel). And that's all she really needed to figure out what was happening.
After walking into her cramped yet adequate motel room, she looked at herself in the mirror. "Ugh, I look so freaky." She also noted that her voice sounded different. Was there anything left of herself?
She took off her clothes (and the medallion) and examined her body. It seemed that everything from her shoulders and down belonged to her original body. It was all her. But everything above that belonged to some other girl. She could even identify where the two "parts" met, because Lisa's skin was fairly tanned, while this Goth girl's skin was nearly pale white. It was like she was a patchwork of two people, just without seams. But not everything was different above her shoulders. Her brain was still her own. She wondered why that hadn't changed too (but grateful that it hadn't, of course). Maybe whatever happened to her couldn't affect the brain, or the mind.
She put her clothes back on (minus the medallion, which she put back into its case) and sat down on the bed. She didn't dare touch that bed with her skin. This was a cheap motel, you know.
Lisa wasn't sure if she should be elated or not, given the circumstances. Sure, her face (basically her entire head) looked like someone else's, but the rest of her body was her own. Not that most people could tell the difference, though (except for the telltale tan). Most people identified someone by their face or their voice. And right now, both of those things belonged to someone else.
