The last two periods had been uneventful for the two women. The lessons that they had been taking part in had for the most part kept their minds off their predicament. Lonna at some point during the math class had decided she was going to pay attention to her new teachers and use it as a way of keeping out of trouble. She needed to see “Her” again before the end of school. They needed to work out what they were going to do next.
Lauren had been caught in teaching the last two lessons of the day that she had barely given Lonna a second thought let alone a first one. It was only after the bell had gone for the end of her last lesson of the day that she remembered that she needed to speak to her.
She walked around her classroom tiding it up as much as she could considering how her students had left the room. She stopped for a second. What am I doing am I not a member of staff, I am one of the students. She thought to herself. This had been the first time since the meeting with Lonna after lunch that she had thought that she was anything other than the 30 something chemistry teacher that she appeared to be.
Just as this thought entered her mind the door to the classroom opened and in walked Mary Elliott the Assistant Principal of the school and friend of Lonna Tran.
Lauren stopped for a moment and nervously turned to face the other woman. Surely the Assistant Principal of the school would notice that something was wrong with her. This could be the break she was waiting for a way out of her troubles. Mary turned to face Lonna and opened her mouth to speak.
