Kelli wasn't a club-goer. He was the kind of guy who would finish his delivery rounds, head home, drink some beer, and play X-Box until he fell asleep. Which was why he was so surprised at how much fun he was having at the club that evening.
The bass was pumping, the lights were dizzying, he could barely hear what his female companion was saying to him, all things that would have normally turned him off of the experience. But as he sipped his cosmopolitan, Kelli felt down-right giddy.
If Kelli had been truly honest with himself, having this gorgeous woman as his companion was part of the night's appeal. Not that he really felt that way about her. Sure, she was beautiful, but for some reason he felt that she was more of a friend to him, not a potential lover. But not everybody else had to know that. To the other patrons in the club, they would look over at Kelli and see a young, good looking guy in a rugged sparkly red strapless dress, with a hot woman on his arm. The thought brought a smile to his painted lips.
Kelli's eyes were wandering around the room, while his hips unconsciously swayed to the beat, when he noticed the door open and a new patron walk in. Another transvestite, he noticed, as he took in the leather-clad man. Thigh-high boots, leather skirt, leather jacket. Not very subtle, but the man didn't seem to care. He walked toward the bar with a purposeful stride in his step, approaching Kelli and his companion.
For some reason Kelli couldn't take his eyes off of the newcomer. It wasn't that there was anything special in how he looked; he was just another crossdresser in a room full of them. But there was something more. He was brighter somehow, more real. As Kelli watched the man approach, it was as if, for a moment, he was the only real thing in a room of sketches.
Then the moment passed. Kelli blinked. The booming bass continued. His hips swayed once again.
"Ah, Jon!" Kelli's companion said to the newcomer, "I was wondering when we'd run into you! Come over to the bar, there's someone I want you to meet!"
