Steve picked up the small jewelry case and flipped it open. A mixture of shock, suspicion and excitement flashed through his mind at the sight of the oval medallion within. The slightly marred white figure of an angel . . . or perhaps a demon filled his vision as he quickly closed the case. "What the hell is this . . .," Steve thought as he glanced around to make sure no one was playing a joke on him. He'd read a few stories about fictional magic and transformations while tooling around on the internet. This $5 medallion had to be somebody's ideas of a joke. Magic necklaces like the Medallion of Zulo don't exist . . . do they? Putting his question to rest for the moment, Steve tucked the black case into his back pocket and found some costume jewelry to go with the princess dresses Isobel had scooped up. Collecting his smiling daughter he proceeded to pay for the frilly dresses and plastic finery with a $10 bill and the pair set off to find his wife.
