Zoe and Alicia’s room was a typical girl’s mess, times two. Clothes strewn about, a bra or two on the floor. I was lucky Alicia was at practice—she was on the junior varsity basketball team and she did soccer in the fall—or she’d just be taking Zoe’s side.
“Hey,” Zoe greeted me, standing just beyond the door. Her voice was flat and monotone, as usual.
“What is it?” I asked, a bit fearfully, sitting on the bed and looking at her desk.
“You’re Athena’s bitch now. Which means you’re my bitch now, too, miss.” She sat next to me and put a hand on my leg. I tried my hardest to not let my face go white with shock.
“Uhh…”
“You heard me, bitch. I don’t care that your birth certificate says you were born first, I’m your older sister now. Listen.” Zoe always had a sharp tongue—she cursed a lot, which Daddy Gabi never liked—but not even Alicia had talked to me quite like this. Girls...they can be so, so confident, and when their egos get on fire...watch out. “Tomorrow night, you’re coming with me and my friends.”
“But—”
“No ifs, ands, or buts, Miss Jonathyn. You’re a bitch now. Athena’s in control, and I’m helping her.”
“So… What should I expect? This all happened suddenly, and like...” I was getting a bit worried.
“Typical emotional boy,” Zoe muttered. “Do what Athena says, and do what I say. First step… Tomorrow you’re wearing our makeup to school.” I typically wore the usual masculine red lipstick and whatnot, but it looked like I was about to trade that in for black. “I have some extra boys makeup from when I dated Randi Shale… I was gonna give him some as a gift but then we broke up.” Randi was another boy in their circles, pretty recognizable for his red hair.
“So…”
“And I wanna try it on you tonight.” I went in my bathroom and fished out some pads of makeup remover and a couple of my own brushes. When I got back, I found that Zoe had set up a video chat with Athena. Guess she’s the judge.
“Hi, Athena.” I smiled.
“Hi bitch. Zoe and I wanna try a couple different styles on you.”
I was a bit hesitant on the inside, but I couldn’t show it. “Alright, Athena.”
