Once again, he was his mother. And just like the last two times, he sat behind her desk at work, legs crossed, staring at a spreadsheet. And once again, there was a knock at the door.
This was ridiculous. How many times was he supposed to do this? He thought it would be a piece of cake. After all, it was his mother. But apparently, he didn't know his mom as well as he thought he did. And the more he found out about her, the sicker he felt about her. An affair? Really? His mother? It just didn't seem possible. But as it was, it really was happening.
"Who is it?" he said in his mother's alto voice. He hoped that he could just send Bill away and not have to deal with all the kissing and everything that he had to endure the last time around. If he could only find a way to stay away from Bill in a way that seemed natural.
"It's Bill. Do you have a moment?" his mom's boss asked, as he opened the door a bit to stick his head in.
