Jon heard his mother coming back from the entryway, talking with someone, presumably the babysitter.
"Alright, so, if she gets hungry, there are bottles in the fridge, there are diapers in her room, you know where that is, and if you need me, you can call my cell, the number is on the counter in the kitchen. I don't think I'll be out past eleven. Thank you so much, Karyn."
Of course, she was talking to Karyn. It made sense that his best friend normally would become his babysitter.
Karyn was looking awkwardly towards Jon. His mother, not noticing this, merely waved to Jon, saying, "Bye bye, sweetie! Mommy will be back soon!" She walked out of the room, and Jon heard the front door shut and the car start shortly afterward. Karyn turned to Jon.
"Jon, why do you do these things?"
"What?"
"Why did you wish to be treated like a baby girl?"
Jon said nothing.
"I just want to know, Jon, I won't make fun of you."
"I... I just wanted to do it. I put in an escape clause beforehand, and since I can reverse it, I thought why don't I do this? I was curious." Karyn smiled.
"I understand, Jon," she said. "I wanted to do something, too, and I was wondering if you'd let me use your stone."
"Sure!" Jon said, excitedly. "Just let me know what you're going to do before you wish it. The stone is in my room, I think I left it on my changing table."
