Derek was afraid to move. He didn't want to do anything to confirm his worst fears. But he had to get up, he knew he couldn't lie here on the stairs forever. Derek ran off crying. His friends, dumbfounded by what had just transpired, congratulated Jon on winning the bet, lingered a bit as they checked him out, and went on their way home as well.
