His talk with his mother had left Jon feeling strangely hopeful for the future. He knew it wouldn't change whatever Sarah had planned for him, but knowing his mother accepted him with his new shoes had lifted a big weight off his shoulders. It made him hope she would always be there for him, no matter the changes.
As the evening continued, his worries began fading away. He had even been able to forget about his predicament for a few hours while he watched a movie with his family. He was still a little weirded out whenever he caught sight of his new footwear, but he had started to accept it as time passed without anyone commenting on them. He actually found them quite comfortable by the end of the evening. When he finally went to bed, he even found himself thinking: "Maybe this month won't be so bad."

Jon woke up feeling way better than he thought he would. Sarah and her power were still on his mind, but it didn't feel as suffocating as the morning before. He knew what was waiting for him now, and while it didn't change anything to his situation, it really helped his mental state.
His morning was as normal as the evening before, with his sister taking too long in the bathroom, leaving him only about five minutes to take a shower. His breakfast was pretty rushed however, as he knew he still had to go to school in heels, he had to leave earlier than usual. It also had the added benefit of avoiding being seen by his sister while he struggled to walk.
He made up some excuse that he had something to do at school before class and left ten minutes early. As soon as he was out, he felt his sleeper change into a pair of red peep toe heels, around the same height as the ones he had yesterday. He sighed after seeing them, regretting the coziness of his sleepers.
"That's still so weird..." He heard Karyn comment before he saw her. She had ben waiting on a bench near his home and had witnessed his change of footwear. "you think you'll be able to walk in them all day?"
"We'll see about that..." Jon sighed. He walked slowly to greet her, still feeling quite unsteady... "I'll try to walk by myself to school, but be ready in case I need your help."
"That's why I'm here." She declared with a small smile. They immediately started walking toward school, not wanting to lose too much time they might need later. "How was your evening?" Karyn asked while keeping an eye on Jon who was struggling with his heels. "Your mom didn't freak out too much?"
Jon couldn't help but smile a little while he was telling her about his previous evening. However, he was stopped in his track when his arm went to answer his phone by himself, taking him off guard and causing him to lose his balance. He was thankfully caught by Karyn, avoiding a probably painful fall, as even despite his situation, his arms continued to answer Sarah's call, as if nothing was wrong.
"Hey Jon! How are you?" Sarah's chipper voice came from the phone, now stuck to his ear.
"What the hell?!" Jon snapped angrily at Sarah. "You could have killed me with your shit!"
"What?" Sarah asked shocked, not expecting this kind of answer from the normally calm Jon. "I didn't do anything since we last saw each other yesterday!"
"Are you okay?" Karyn asked worriedly at the same time, while helping him sit in a small wall near them.
"Yeah..." Jon answered, trying to calm himself down. "Thank you..."
"Jon! What happened?" Asked Sarah, now sounding a little worried.
"What happened is that your call made me fall because of your stupid heels, and I couldn't use my right arm for anything other than answering you." Jon explained. He was still angry at her but tried to stay polite. He didn't want to make his change worse by angering her. "Without Karyn, I don't know what would have happened."
Sarah stayed silent a moment, allowing Jon to regain his bearings, though he didn't dare to get up while he was still glued to his phone. "I think I might have a solution to avoid things like this happening again." She finally declared, now sounding pretty serious.
