Jon was in shock.
He saw various memories, that seemed so real, but they were from an outside vantage point, as if he was looking in as an outsider to his adjusted past. Which, makes sense, he was an outsider right now.
The reason he was dressed exactly like Amber was because of a strange 'twin' assignment Amber and Jon had to do for their Health class. Jon now remembered the new assignment, and why he got it. They were to write journals and keep track of how their lives the same and different, being these imaginary twins or different relationships with new family members, perhaps a step sibling. Jon had planned to partner with Karyn, and they were going to be twins separated at birth, since for the most part they acted the same anyways. However, reality altered with this wish. Now, Jon was late to class that day, and was the last one to be partnered up with the smart kid, who coincidentally was Amber, his cousin.
Unfortunately, Mr. Andrews did not like Jon, because he saw potential in Jon, and knew Jon was not putting enough effort into class. So, instead of letting Jon pick, they were assigned identical twin GIRL, with the subset that they had to do everything alike, and together, include dress alike. Mr. Andrews hoped that working closely with Amber would help Jon focus more on his academics.
So, why was he dressed like Amber? Because Amber was a literal student when it came to assignments, and forced Jon to do exactly as assigned, otherwise she would get a poor grade, which was not acceptable to her!
