Jon found it difficult to walk, as he went downstairs. He had never walked in heeled boots before. And the corset was becoming increasingly uncomfortable. It made it hard to breathe. He didn't mind the long black dress, other than he felt a bit strange in it.
"Oh, hi Jon," his mom said. She was in the living room, reading a book. "Zoe already left. If you want to catch up with her, you'd better hurry."
What was she talking about? "Uh, okay," Jon said. He walked to the front door and opened it.
"You know, Jon," his mom said. "I don't mind you hanging out with your sister and idolizing her, but maybe you're taking this clothing thing too far."
Idolizing her? Jon thought. He turned back. "You don't like what I'm wearing?" He expected her to be totally against it. What mother wants their son to dress like a girl, even a Goth girl?
But instead she said "No, I think it looks great on you, but you should really be wearing boy's chothes. You know?"
"Uh, yeah. Sure." He turned back to the door and went outside.
People obviously weren't shocked by Jon's new clothes, but that didn't mean that they totally accepted it. Jon wondered how Karyn and Zoe felt about all of this, not to mention everyone at school.
