Athena went to their meet up and saw Jon waiting in front of the school. He was look in the other direction, searching for them. She approached and greeted him.
"Where is Karyn?" Jon asked still looking around.
"I don't know, I haven't seen her since we went to class." Athena responded.
"I hope nothin..." Jon turned around and his face turned pale. "What happened to your ears?!" He pointed at Athena's head.
Gingerly she brought her hands up to the sides of her head. Nothing, her ears were gone. She faked a panic by widening her eyes as she slowly moved her hands up until she touched her new catears. They were sensetive and in reflex twitched to her touch.
"Are those catears?" Jon said.
Athena dug into purse to collect a small mirror. She bent her head forward, trying to get a better look.
"Yes." She said, doing her best to hide her glee. "The virus must be mutating or something?"
"Oh god!" Jon yelled. "What if something happened to Karyn?"
Athena put her mirror back and took her cellphone out.
"I have a missed call, from Karyn!" She said as she checked the screen.
"Well, call her back!" Jon yelled a bit more commanding than he had wanted to.
"What do you think I'm doing?" She waited as the phone rang.
After two sounds Karyn picked up. "Athena, thank god. I couldn't reach either you or Jon. Something has happened." Her voice was shaking. "Please meet me at the girls bathroom and bring a hat or something."
"She needs us, let's go Jon." Athena said, conveniently forgetting the hat part.
Together they quickly left for the bathroom, where they found Karyn looking in a mirror.
Jon and Athena gasped. Karyn's ears had also changed, they were now...
