The stone flashed, telling Jon that his wish had been granted. Wanting to see how his wish had changed reality, Jon left his room and went downstairs. What he saw was not what he was expecting. In the kitchen, helping his mom finish making dinner, were two men: his real dad and Karyn's! Jon had assumed that his wish would result in men marrying more than one woman, but his wish apparently had women marrying more than one man!
Jon's mom noticed him first. "There you are Jon," she said. "I was just about to call you. Could you help your father set the table. Dinner's just about ready." Jon helped his real father set the table, while Karyn's father helped his mom finish dinner.
As the rest of his family came down, Jon noticed subtle differences in his siblings. His sister Zoe looked the same, but older brother Matt looked different and his brother Mikey was a girl. Matt and the female Mikey apparently were fathered by Karyn's dad, making them his half siblings. He wondered how Karyn's life had changed now that her father wasn't married to her mother. Would she be the same, would she be different, or would she even exist at all? He was afraid to ask about it and decided to make a wish to learn more about this new reality. It was strange hearing his siblings call both men 'dad.' He would have to be extra careful not to screw up until he learned how to act properly in this new world.
