She went for the maternity dress. But when picking it up, she realized that it might not be a good idea. She had, after all, researched the Medallion of Zulo so she knew it didn't work on the pregnant. If she did this, she couldn't reverse it until the birth.
So she had to have at least some plan for if her husband couldn't come to work for a while. The dress was for someone at the end of pregnancy, so the pregnancy wouldn't last too long, but she didn't know exactly how long that would be. If it lasted until the next work day, she might have to change into him and call in sick. If it lasted even longer she could come to work as him, but that would be hard since she didn't know everything about his job and she wasn't sure how long she could fake it. She supposed that if it was a really long time, she could always demonstrate the medallion. She was sure his boss would let him be away from work for a while in exchange for magically being 20 years younger.
Still, that was for the future, since it was Friday and the weekend was coming up. She looked at the maternity dress one last time, wondering if it had ever been used. She thought it was the one her sister had lost and not found again until after the baby was born, which meant it wasn't used, but she could be wrong. It would affect what he turned into--if it was used he would turn into her pregnant sister, and if not he would be himself as a pregnant woman.
Slipping the chain around Mark's neck, she was careful not to wake him. but he did stir. Perhaps he had woken up for a few seconds, but it didn't matter. She touched the medallion to the maternity dress and let it go. She watched as his features began to soften and his belly expand as he lay there asleep. Some time later, it was done....
