...he now stood outside the door. His whole body felt out of proportion. Most noticeable was the weight on his chest.
"Jon?" he heard a surprised question from inside the bathroom. Without thinking, he answered.
"Yeah?"
"Why am I you?"
"I'm so sorry mom, I didn't mean to. I wanted to try out something, and it went horribly wrong. You see the stone in front of you? It grants wishes. Kinda like a genie, only I can have as many wishes as I want to. It was grandpas. And I wished to try out somebody elses life. I was about to switch lives with a movies star for a week, when you knocked on and made me word my wish wrongly!" Jon found it best to tell the truth, though maybe not everything. "Please, mom, open the door so I can come in and wish us back!"
There was a long silence. Then, Jons mom spoke. "How does this stone work?"
"You just hold it in your hand and say 'I wish', followed by your wish. The problem is, you can't reverse wishes, so we can't change directly back again. We need to find a smart way to word our wish, so that we don't actually reverse my wish."
"Change back? Not yet, I think. You shouldn't play around with stuff like this, it's dangerous, and I think I'll have to punish you. Besides, I kinda like the idea of being young again. No, we'll stay as each other, 'mom'."
Jon was shocked and on the verge of tears. "No, you can't...you can't do this to me! I'm your own son! Please, mom, please!" He ran to his room and threw himself on the bed, crying. Soon, his mom came into the room, holding the stone. "What are you doing here in my room? I wish you'd behave more like the person you actually are. And get out of my room!"
Jon could do nothing but obey. He left the room for his parents bedroom, and collapsed here instead, crying himself into sleep.
