When they arrived at the restaurant, Ash parked the car and then help Jade out. She took his arm, while Jade carried his black clutch purse in the other. Sami had already booked them a table so when they entered, Ash told the waiter who nodded and led them to their table.
Ash held the chair out for Jade before she sat down herself; the waiter handed them a couple of menus and took their order for drinks.
Jade looked around the Mexican restaurant. There was a good mixture of couples and families. Festive decor hung on the walls, which were painted in a faux stucco treatment.
“This is nice,” Jade said, smiling at Ash.
Ash nodded. “Yeah, I’ve got to commend Buffie on the recommendation.” She browsed through the menu. “So, what are you going to have?”
“I think I’ll have a salad. After all, I’ve got to watch my figure.”
“I think that you look great.” Jade blushed. “I’m thinking of ordering the chicken enchilada.” The waiter came back with their drinks and took their meal order. Ash tried not to stare too much at the waiter as he leaned in to place the drinks on the table. Sure, he was hot, but he was on a date.
Ash’s phone buzzed and she took it out to check it. “Finally, the game’s started.”
“Game?” Jade asked. “What game?”
“Oh, the hockey game,” Ash explained. “Seattle is playing Colorado tonight, and it’s a big game. Seattle could clinch a playoff spot.”
“Oh,” Jade replied, sounding thoroughly uninterested.
“So, uh... How are you coping with all of the changes?” Jade asked, trying to change the subject. As he did so he rested his head on his hands and gazed into Ash’s eyes.
