A teenage goth girl. She looked a little familiar to Jon, but he didn't know who she was.
"Hey, Jon. Are you ready to go?" she said, with a bit of a smile.
"Wait a minute. I know this will sound strange, but who are you?"
"Athena. Are you a little fuzzy in the head?"
Athena, Athena. Where have I heard that name before? Jon thought. He really wished he had paid more attention to Zoe's social life. And then it hit him. Athena was Zoe's best friend.
"You're my friend, right?" Jon asked.
"Well, I hope I'm more than that."
"My girlfriend?"
"That's right," she said.
Zoe's best friend had become Jon's girlfriend. The stone must have altered their relationship, since Jon is a guy. Jon wondered if there might have been other major alterations, as well. But it was only brief curiosity. He really wanted his old life back.
"Now, Jon. Can we stop playing games and go? Zelda's waiting for us."
"Where are we going and who is Zelda?" Jon asked.
"You really don't remember, do you. Come on Jon, you know that tonight we're going to ..."
