Maybe it was just coincidence that the clothing in the box was the same type of clothing that John used as an explanation to himself about what was happening to Silvia, but as it turned out, the clothing that Tom was touching (at the same time that he was touching the broken medallion) was a woman's well-tailored business suit.
But what kind of person did Tom think would wear something like that? A ball-busting lesbian? A domineering workaholic? A gold-digging man hunter? An extreme right-wing conservative? Or something else? All of those types would be completely different than who he was, not to mention being a different gender. But as he sat there and inspected the clothes, he had no idea that he was going to become just like the woman he imagined in his head. And he had no idea that he was already changing ... yet.
