"I wish that Karyn wouldn't get jealous or mind what I'm asking her to do, when I call her now and ask for help."
He hated altering Karyn's mind in even this small way, but he didn't have much choice.
Then Jon called Karyn's number on his cell phone.
"Hi! This is Karyn. Jon, that's you, right?"
"Yeah. Karyn, I need your help with something."
"Oh?" replied Karyn. "It has something to do with the stone, right?"
"Yeah. You see... Well, I wished I could have sex with myself. And now there's me, and a female clone of me, named Joan. But since I heard the wish, Joan has my mind, and the cloning comes with a memory copy, so Joan would have my mind anyway. Say hi to Karyn, Joan."
Joan took the phone and said "Hi, Karyn. I think I guessed what the other me is going to ask you, but you're welcome to try." Then she handed it back.
"Interesting," said Karyn. "You mean that whole cloning project was just something you wished up?"
"Yeah. You didn't hear the wish, so you think I've always been involved in a cloning project. But it's not, it's new. Either way the clone just got here today. Anyway, Karyn, here's my problem. I'd like you to talk to my clone. Convince her to have sex with me. Would you do that?"
"Well, why don't you wish that she'd do it?"
"Uh, because that's rape? I did wish that she'd enjoy it if it ever happens, but I'm not going to force her to do it."
"I see," said Karyn. "Sure, I'd be willing to talk to her. Beam me up!"
"Do you really think so," said Joan. "Come on. She couldn't convince you to have sex with a guy, could she convince me?"
"But this isn't like having sex with a random guy off the street. Anyway, I wish Karyn was here."
Karyn materialized out of thin air. She was still holding her cell phone, which she snapped shut and tucked in her purse. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Joan," she said. "Even though you remember meeting me before."
"Everything just seems normal for me," said Joan. But it must be strange for you to talk to me as a girl...."
Jon stayed on the side and let Karyn and Joan talk. But he wondered, could Karyn really convince Joan?
