Suddenly someone knocked on the door. Jon and his female double quickly let go of each other and Jon opened the door. Standing there was his mother.
"How are you doing?" asked Jon's mother. "Is your clone feeling okay?"
"Clone?" said Jon. Well, now they knew what reality change let Jon have a female double of himself. But he still didn't know the details and had to guess. Hmm, they both had the same memories, but were they supposed to? Clones wouldn't naturally have the same memories, but in some sci-fi, minds were copied to clones, so they did.
Jon decided to take a guess. "Yeah, she's fine, just a little confused. It's like she's me but suddenly turned into a girl."
"That's what they said it might be like," said Jon's mother. She turned to the female clone and said "I see you're still wearing guy's clothes... are you sure you won't reconsider?"
"I'll think about it, Mom," she said.
"And you still need to pick a name. Jen? Jan? Joanna? Jonnie? How about Joan? I like that."
"Fine, Mom," she replied.
Another wish made it clear what had happened. There was a science lab nearby and these guys Eric and Keith were doing a cloning experiment. Jon had volunteered. There was only a little bit of actual pay, but they would cover the living expenses of the clone up until the end of college. The experiment started a week ago but Jon returned to the lab today so his mind could be copied, and then Jon and the clone came home. It would be impossible to tell them apart if the clone's Y chromosome hadn't been replaced with an X to make it female.
"So... I'm a clone," said Joan.
"In this history," said Jon. "Look at it this way, at least there's a reason you're here. We can come to school tomorrow and everyone thinks you're supposed to exist. But..."
"I can guess what you're thinking," said Joan. "This is all good and well but it's pretty far from the original wish."
"I wanted to have sex with myself," said Jon. "And I guaranteed you'll enjoy it. So are we going to do it?"
Joan thought and replied....
