While Jon slept, his body began to warp itself into a new shape. For a few minutes, it almost seemed as if his body were melting, flowing into a new yet somewhat familiar form. The changes swept over him nonstop until in his place lay a teenage girl.
However, the process was far from finished. The new girl's skin darkened to a reddish-black hue. At the same time, her soft body hardened, flesh pulling itself into more perfect contours unaffected by gravity. Her hair, which had only grown out into a short pixie cut, now angled itself up and backward as if blown by the wind and leaving the girl's long neck fully exposed. Suddenly, the hair froze in place, individual strands melding together into simulated tresses that matched the material of the rest of her head.
Soon, she resembled a life-sized stone figure, exquisitely crafted and finely detailed. Meanwhile, the springs in her mattress groaned a little as her body completed its transition from living flesh to hard ceramic.
The changes inside were even more alarming than those outside. Beneath the girl's solidifying outer layer, her muscles, bones, and organs, even her brain, evaporated into nothing, leaving her hollow. That emptiness did not last long as an arcane fire filled it with heat like a raging kiln. This heat, however, was not the physical heat of burning matter but rather the heat of life, fueled by pure elemental power. This did not make the girl's surface too hot, though, merely the temperature of a healthy human being, or a stone left out in the sun on a summer day.
Undisturbed by her extreme transformation, the living statue stayed put, unmoving until morning.
