"The week I was sick my parents left on a retreat with their religious group for a couple days. I had a sick day excuse from my aunt when I started become a Satyr." Angela explained.
"A Satyr! You don't look like a goat person." Sarah said.
"a MALE Satyr", Angela explained. "I got better, except for my gender. But that doesn't explain why I lost my family. My parents were a bit fanatic religiously. I never was. They disapproved of me but never tried to force things on me. Until wednesday of that week when they returned. They saw my hooves and goat legs as me being the devil himself. they thought he possessed and changed me. They dragged me against my will to a nutcase who claimed to be an exorcist and for a full week I was locked up, starved, doused with holy water, and read bible verses trying to exorcize me. It wasn't until my aunt went to check on me and found out that the cops were called and they were arrested. I live with my aunt now."
"that's horrible!" Sarah said, glad at least her mom showed some support.
"I am not here to share sob stories, I am here to share understanding" Angela said. After I turned back I tried being a man but it wasn't for me. It felt too stifling, too much like a trap, people forcing me to stifle my emotions and be tough. I still kept my feelings towards men as well and got hasseled for being gay. i saw why they called you fairy. How you hugged Biff when you were scared from your change and seeking comfort, and how the jocks turned on you for seeming gay. I never got it that bad but i was never in the in crowd. But I was hasseled alot."
"Are you going to try and pressure me into being girly and seen as a freak, or to try being a man and lose what I am?" Sarah said suspiciously.
"no, not at all." Angela said. "I am trying to tell you to be yourself whatever that is. I think i know the best way to do it, that is if you want to go to the mall with me."
Sarah used to love going to the mall but was unsure if she should. would more people just see her as a freak? Is this girl trying to claim similarity just to try and get in on a new in crowd.
