"Did it work?" Karyn asked.
Jon collapsed to the floor and breathed heavily. "That took a lot out of me. I was only doing it for about a minute, but it feels like a ran a mile. I don't think I'll be able to make contact again for a while."
"You have to try, Jon. They need our help."
"Jon? Are you home?" his mom asked, walking upstairs. She screamed when she saw the destruction of his bedroom. Part of the wall had a large hole in it.
Zoe came running into the room. "What the fuck happened in here?" She wasn't home when Hart came by to take Jon's stone. She was out with her friends.
Her mom fell to the floor and began to cry. "Where's Jon?"
The cops kept shooting at him, but Hart was a very determined and resourceful man. He had to be, to have lived this long. He kept reloading his weapon and picking off the cops one by one. And when they were all dead, he used his stone again to find where Rachel had run off to. He saw two girls running aimlessly down a road and he smiled.
After getting back in his truck, he connected his stone back into the scanner and got a precise location of Rachel and her stone. He also noticed that two other stones were in very close proximity to her. In fact, she seemed to be moving towards them. He wasn't sure if this was a good thing or not. Having them all in the same place might save time tracking them all down, but it would also make it more difficult if they all decided to gang up on him. Who knew what kind of stones they possessed? His bulletproof vest was enough to stop the cops from killing him, but when stones were involved, bullets were the least of his worries.
But, of course, Rachel wasn't there yet. If he hurried, he could take her stone before she met up with the others.
