Wallace walked to his car, but didn't get in. Janice got out, thinking that something was wrong.
"Wallace?" she asked. "What is it?"
He showed the stone to his wife.
"Where did you get that?" she asked.
"It was in the crater. It was the only thing in the crater."
"This little thing?" she asked, about to grab it. But Wallace pulled it away from her.
"It's dangerous."
"Dangerous? What do you mean?"
He pointed at the field. "Do you see any fire?"
She looked and said "No."
"Somehow, this stone got rid of all of it."
"Honey, you're not making any sense."
"And it glows. Watch." They both looked at the stone, but it never glowed.
Janice sighed. "Wallace, maybe you just imagined the whole thing."
"No. It did happen."
"Let's just get home before it gets too dark, okay?" she said, looking at the sunset on the horizon. It was now technically night.
Wallace looked down at the stone and said "Come on. Glow." And suddenly it did, much to his wife's surprise. Then immediately after, a stream of fire shot out of the stone and flew into the forest across the road. Two large trees exploded, sending flaming splinters of wood flying in every direction.
"Cool!" Tommy yelled, with excitement.
His parents could only stare.
