Rachel was hard at work, not at the Math problems on the board, but sending three to four texts every few seconds to different people. It was only first period, and Rachel was already busy running up her family's cellphone plan.
Right after another sent text, she heard the announcement that would send her entire school into quite the commotion:
"I wish that all the male people in the school would swap with the female people in the school."
For a second, Rachel was confused, just like everyone else. What kind of announcement was that? And who said it? She thought the voice was familiar, but couldn't place a finger on it...
Suddenly, a feeling overcame her. The overwhelming feeling to swap something took hold in her mind, and she needed to ease it. She looked around the room, and made eye contact with a fellow student named Derek.
Rachel knew a few things about Derek: He was one of the school's only ''emo'' kids, and because of that stature, he was rather low on the social food chain. Rachel herself wasn't a queen bee, but she had a good amount of friends and wasn't just another loner.
However, any thoughts of friends and cliches were all blurred, replaced with a desire to swap something of her's with something of his.
With her state of the art phone in her hands, Rachel took it and swapped with Derek's off-brand flip phone. It was a rather old model, and Derek lacked any sort of unlimited minutes plan, but Rachel was suddenly satisfied. Sure, she no longer had a top-notch phone, with all sorts of apps and what not, but it was a swap. And she wouldn't give her up with new(?) phone for anything.
Derek was pretty pumped as well. If you asked him, he'd say he came out on top with the deal. Sure, the phone was a bit girlie, with it's pink, rhinestoned case and all the other applications being femmine in nature, but he was alright with it. Suddenly, the phone vibrated and a screen informed he that he had a new text from someone named ''Lauren<3333333333333". Derek might as well respond and tell the person that she was no longer speaking with Rachel...
Rachel and Derek had gotten out easy, just swapping their phones. Other students would not be so lucky......
