Jon watched in stunned silence as his friend's body began to dissolve right before his eyes. Soon, there was nothing left of her. Even her clothes were gone.
Suddenly, the knocking on Jon's bedroom door ceased. Wondering why, Jon opened the door and saw his sister staring down at her body.
"Zoe? What is it?" Jon asked.
She looked up at him. "I'm not Zoe. I'm Karyn. That wish must have forced me to take over your sister's body!"
"I'm so sorry, Karyn. It ... it was an accident. I didn't mean ..."
"I know, I know," she said. She looked down at herself again. "Ugh. The first thing I'm gonna do is get rid of these Goth clothes. I feel like a freak."
"Don't you think getting back to normal is more important?"
"Wishes can't be reversed. Remember?"
"Yeah, but they can be reinterpreted."
"I don't want to tempt fate, Jon. Who knows? You could make things worse." She smiled (something Jon's sister rarely did, except with her friends). "Don't worry. I at least have the chance to make your sister a better person."
Jon may have not gotten along with his sister all the time, but he wasn't sure if she needed to be "made better". One of the things that made Zoe herself was her sense of individuality and independence. Was it right for Karyn to take that away? Although, on the other hand, Zoe was disobedient and not the best student at school. Perhaps Karyn could improve her life a bit.
Karyn walked into Zoe's bedroom and become disgusted once again. "The second thing I'm gonna do is redecorate this place. I feel like I'm walking into a dungeon."
