Jon knew immediately what this question meant. His first real transformation would probably be something close to what he would say. Even with two options, he was almost certain he would not like the outcome.
"You're going to change me if I answer, right?" He asked Sarah even though he knew the answer.
Sarah opened her mouth to deny it, but no sound came out. She was still unable to lie to him until they got back into the school. She tried for a few more second, making her stay open-mouthed, before finally conceding. "Fine! Yes, that was my plan when I asked the question!"
"And it still is, right?" Jon continued.
"Yes." She was forced to answer. The whole 'no lying' had been useful but it was becoming more and more of an hindrance.
"You can't answer that, Jon!" Karyn said to him, but she didn't need to as Jon had came to the same conclusion. While he still needed information, the cost had become too much.
"I know." He answered Karyn, before turning back toward Sarah. "I guess this is the end of our little game. I'm not going to answer that one." He started going toward the school gate and Karyn followed suit.
Sarah knew that was a possibility, but she had been counting on Jon taking the risk for more informations. Maybe she shouldn't have given him so much information in his last question, so he would have to ask another one. She tried to think of something to say to get him to stay longer, but she still couldn't lie to him, making this way harder. She followed after them, shouting some "Wait!" and other "We can talk about it!" But it only made them go faster.
Finally, they passed the gate, ending their forced honesty. Jon and Karyn thought she would stop following them, but she continued, making them nervous. Jon, in particular, was feeling like he was next to a bomb that could explode at any second. "I think I will run away." He whispered to Karyn. "Can you stop her from following me?"
"Sure, just give me a sign when you start." Karyn answered, knowing what could happen.
Sarah was indeed trying to find a choice to give Jon but was having trouble. She had to think of two options that had a common theme, but they needed to be something she wouldn't miss if Jon took the other option. However, her thoughts were soon interrupted.
"Now!" Shouted Jon, not caring if anyone else heard him. He then began running toward his next class.
Sarah tried to shout the first choice she thought of, but was stopped as Karyn's hand was placed on her mouth. It took her a few seconds to free herself, but Jon was now too far for him to hear her.
"It looked like you'll have to wait a little more before you can transform Jon." Karyn said with a grin.
Sarah frowned, this was the second time Jon ran away from her in one day. "You two enjoy while you can." She hissed at Karyn. Not only was it frustrating, people would begin to think something was up if he continued.
Karyn continued to smile. She knew it wouldn't last long, but she was happy it worked, and seeing Sarah angry was a nice bonus after everything she'd already done. "Well, I'll be going now! You should too, class is about to start." And with that, she too, started running toward school.
Sarah was left alone. She calmed herself, reasoning she could call him anytime, now. It was only a matter of time before she could begin to change Jon, with a better choice than whatever she would have said in haste earlier. After school, for sure, it was going to begin.
