Karyn and Jon sat in the food court, each with a plethora of shopping bags from various stores. Both of them were laughing and giggling like two girls at the mall could, and both were enjoying the looks they were getting from members of the opposite sex. Even Jon, who thought he really had no desire to be a girl and was initially sickened by the thought of staying a girl, had to admit that she was enjoying things, perhaps a little too much.
"So," Karyn said as she played with the straw in her Icee, "How do you like your first morning as a girl."
"I'm interested," Jon admitted. "I never thought I could have so much fun this way. I don't want it to end, I want to try it out longer, but I'm afraid I might like it too much."
"Well, nothing says you have to change," Karyn said, her eyes perking up.
"No," Jon said, "I will eventually. But not right now. Maybe in....a week." She thought to herself about the wish her mom had made, and quickly realized a problem.
"I know everyone will think we were always 21," Jon said quickly, "But my mom is the one who made the wish that I was born a girl. She still thinks I'm a boy, if a 21 year old boy a boy nonetheless."
"Yeah, that is a problem...and technically we never graduated high school, we just became 21. I think a few more wishes are in order."
Reaching into her purse, Jon handed the rock to Karyn. Karyn held the rock tight and said, "I wished that for the next week, Jon's mother would think that her son, Jon, was actually her 21 year old daughter Jonelyn, and that everyone else would think that Jon really was Jonelyn and call her Jon for short. I also wish that Jon and I did graduate high school, and also has associates degrees in business management." A flood of new information came rumbling through both Karyn and Jon's minds as they learned everything that would have taken them years in approximately 15 seconds. After the rush of new information, Jon smiled.
"Thanks, now there's something I really think I wanna try. I'm not sure, but I think I do."
"What's that?" Karyn asked, handing the rock back to Jon.
"I think I wanna try and make it with a boy." Karyn nearly choked on her Icee at that. "What," Jon said, acting innocent, "if I'm gonna know what its like to be a girl, I wanna knwow everything." Karyn laughed at this, as Jon made another wish, "I wish that Karyn and I can't get pregnant unless we really, truly, and deeply want to." Karyn again nearly choked on her Icee laughing. But deep down, she wondered what was happening to her friend, as if the stone was changing everything about him, or was it her now.
