Karyn got to the bottom of the stairs. "Karyn?" her mum came out of the kitchen. "You going out like that?"

"Oh, mom, thanks for reminding me." Karyn dashed upstairs and put on her ruby red lipstick and black eyeliner. Feeling better, she went round to see Jon.
