He looked directly at Karyn, then stopped eating.
Then he knelt down on the floor in front of Karyn. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean ..." He paused. "Here's your hot dog back." He held it up to her.
"Um ... okay?" Karyn said. She took the hot dog from him.
Steve smiled. It wasn't his usual leering smile. No, this was a loving smile. Steve loved Karyn.
"Can you forgive me?" Steve asked.
"Uh ..."
Steve got up and sat in a chair next to Karyn's. He leaned in close and lovingly touched her shoulder. "Please."
"Okay?" Karyn didn't have a clue of what was going on. Why was Steve acting so weird? Not that she hated it. This Steve was much better than the jerk that bullied both her and Jon around.
Steve smiled again. And he leaned in again, except this time he embraced Karyn with a hug. Karyn was totally caught off guard. What exactly was going on? "Thanks," Steve said. Then it looked as if he was going to kiss Karyn. That's when Jon couldn't take it anymore.
"That's it, Steve. Stop it. Leave her alone."
Steve turned towards Jon and sneered at him. "Why don't you leave us alone?"
Jon didn't even know how to respond to that. He knew that Steve was being affected by the love potion, but that didn't make it easier for Jon. He saw Steve, as he had always been, taking advantage of a girl. And in this case, Jon's friend. He couldn't just stand by and let it happen.
