"You know, Jon..." she began.
"What is it?"
"Before talking about the stone or any of that..."
She was being uncharacteristically hesitant.
Does this mean that it worked? Jon thought.
She continued "I think that I should tell you this. Over our years of being together, I think that I may have come to realize that.... I love you." Karyn was blushing, and looking down at the table in front of her. Jon hadn't seen her act like this before. "I know it's a bit weird telling you this all of a sudden, but I think that's what I truly feel, and I thought that it'd be good to tell you now because if you didn't like it we could just pretend it never happened and just be friends with the stone's help."
The love potion worked, but Jon felt a bit guilty. Her profession of love was one of the best things he could have wished for, but it was most likely false and gone in 24 hours. He almost wanted to believe that she would've told him the same thing even without the love potion.
He wondered how to answer her.
