Jon had always loved Karyn, but he wasn't sure if she felt the same way. He thought that she was the perfect target for his newest magical item. She'd fall in love with him for only 24 hours, but afterwards maybe there would be an after effect. Afterall, the were already friends. It's not like he was trying it out on his worst enemy.
Karyn called about five minutes later, asking if Jon wanted to go to the mall. He said sure. She then asked if he could bring the wishing stone and he told her that he had something else almost as good. And when she asked what it was, he said it would be a surprise.
About 15 minutes later, Jon showed up in the food court. That's where they always met if they went to the mall separately.
"Hey, Karyn."
She was sitting at one of the tables.
"You want something to eat? I can go buy something for you, if you want."
"Sure. That'd be great. Um ... how 'bout a hot dog from The Doggie Stand?"
"Coming right up."
He bought the hot dog and something for himself. But before he went back to the table, he added one drop of the love potion to her hot dog. Then he walked back.
"Here you go, Karyn," he said, handing her the hot dog.
He sat down and waited for her to eat her dinner.
