Jon turned around to see a pretty, middle-aged woman in a black skirtsuit looking at him. He did not recognize her.
“Do I know you?“ he said.
The woman managed to chuckle without any noticable mirth. “I would goddam hope so, Crystal. What did you smoke last night that you forgot what your manager looks like?“ She grabbed his hand and began dragging him away. “We have to hurry. The meet and greet starts in 10 minutes and your bandmates are already waiting.“
Manager? Meet and greet?? Bandmates??? What on earth was this woman talking about?
“There must be a misunderstanding. I don't know what you're talking about,“ he insisted.
“Jesus Christ, you gotta stop with the drugs, Crystal. Your contract clearly states that you are required to attend any promotional event deemed appropriate by the label. Now come on,“ the woman said, still dragging Jon along. They reached a large tent erected in the park and Jon was pushed inside. The woman shouted, “get her ready. They'll be on stage in five!“
Inside the tent, people were bustling about. More hands grabbed Jon and sat him down in front of a mirror. As the many hands of the make-up artists got to work, Jon got his first proper look at himself.
