"And where do you think you're going?" Zoe's mom asked. She was standing at the bottom of the stairs, with her hands on her hips.
"Out," Jon**/**Zoe said.
"You're grounded. You're staying here."
"Make me." Jon**/**Zoe walked past her, but then was grabbed by her. "Let go of me!"
"Now, you listen here ..." She stopped in mid-sentence.
While all this was going on, Karyn**/**Athena found an odd device with a big red button sitting on the floor at the edge of the room. She had picked it up and looked at it. She didn't know what it was for, but pressed the button anyway. At the time, the device was pointing at Zoe's mom.
Zoe's mom disappeared, letting Jon**/**Zoe go free.
"Huh? What happened to your mom?" Karyn**/**Athena asked.
"She probably just ran off somewhere. What difference does it make? Let's go."
"But, she just disappeared."
