The next day, Karyn approached Jon as he waited outside the school.
"So did you bring the stone?" She asked.
"No." Jon replied
"No? Why not?"
"I figured it would be too dangerous to let it fall into the wrong hands. I hid it in my room."
"But what if your mom finds it while she's cleaning or something?"
"Relax. She cleans on Wednesdays, and today's Thursday. Besides, I did make one wish before I came here."
"What did you wish for?"
"This." Jon said as he pulled a small black object from his backpack. It was square, about 2 inches on each side, with an antenna sticking out of one side. On the top was a large, single red button.
"You wished for a remote control?"
"Kind of. I guess I wasn't being too careful, but while I was holding the stone last night I said 'I wish something interesting would happen,' and all of a sudden this thing fell out of thin air."
"So what's it do?"
"I'm not sure. I was hoping we could try it out here at school. Why don't you do the honors." Jon handed the remote to Karyn and she looked at it for a moment in her hand before pushing her thumb down on the comically large button...
