"Well, I was thinking, Miss A, that we remember everything that really happened, so it seems odd that Zoe is a cheerleader. But to everyone else, she's always been a cheerleader. Maybe it would help if we knew how Zoe came to be this way."
Miss Amazing nodded, "Good thinking, Amazing Lad."
"Boy."
"Whatever. I wish that Amazing Boy and I remembered what everyone else remembers about Zoe." They each paused a moment as the information filtered through their brains.
"So . . . Zoe was GOING goth, but then suddenly changed her whole persona about two years ago and began cheerleading."
"Computer," Amazing Boy said, "Check newspaper database for major headlines about this month two years ago." Both heroes' eyes widened when they saw the first headline, 'Mysterious Woman Amazingly Foils Bank Robbery!'
They looked at each other, "You don't think," Miss Amazing started,
". . . that Zoe had something to do with our powers? Yeah, I'm thinking that may be a possibility."
"Ready! OK! Two bits, four bits, six bits, a dollar! All for the Cougars, stand up and Holler!" Zoe rolled her eyes as she and the girls jumped up and down and waved pom-poms in the air. That was such a corny cheer. Actually, they were all corny, but that one moreso than others. And then, the energy of the room suddenly stopped. The other cheerleaders all froze in place.
Zoe looked around cautiously, expecting to find that her Master Dark Lord was a part of this. She turned and came face to face with a scarred, black figure with smoke pouring off his body.
"Zoe Dawkins, I have been sent by the Dark Lord, our Master, to say that he is displeased with your lack of cooperation. Your first task is to discover why his domain has been reduced so greatly. This is your only task. Failure to accomplish this will be punished."
"Punished how?"
The demon smiled.
