There was a knock at the door and Jon opened it. It was his mom, except she looked different. More gothic-like.
"Jon, dinner's here."
"Dinner? But it's morning."
Karyn nudged Jon. "Vampires are night creatures," she whispered to him.
"Oh. Right."
They went into the kitchen and saw a teenage girl tied to the table.
"What is this?" Jon asked.
"Dinner," his mom said, a bit confused by Jon's question. "Now, eat up. You both need your blood."
Karyn and Jon looked at each other. Sure, they were thirsty for blood. They could feel it. But they didn't think they could feed on someone. Unlike everyone else in town, Jon and Karyn remembered what it was like to be a normal human being. They just didn't think they could do it.
