As Jon and Karyn both suspected, Gym class was the most different from the world they remembered. For starters, girls and boys attended the same gym class, and in the same room. In addition, with no need for anyone to change clothes, there were no locker rooms. Everyone just walked from the hall into the gymnasium and lined up for roll call. Of course, with no locker rooms, there was no seven or ten minute locker room period at the start of class either. Roll call and workouts began as soon as the bell rang.
After some warm-up calisthenics, Jon and Karyn found they'd be playing badminton. This turned out to be almost exactly as they remembered badminton from the clothed world. Other sports, however, had subtle or extreme changes. Outdoor tennis was always played on grass, never on clay, composite, or asphalt. Outdoor volleyball was always on sand. Indoor tennis, volleyball, basketball, and hockey were all played on short nap, slightly padded carpet, and the balls were different to compensate. Football was mostly the touch variety. All of this was apparently to reduce floor burns and other injuries.
Jon tried very hard to concentrate on badminton rather than the naked bodies of the girls around him. Sometimes it worked; sometimes it didn't. He also had trouble watching the boy players as much as he should; his inclination was to look away. Karyn seemed to be having the same trouble in reverse.
Other students in the same class were assigned to pairs dance, pairs gymnastics, and co-ed wrestling. That was a distraction from badminton as well. Jon wouldn't have minded wrestling Karyn for a while.
Fifteen minutes before the end of class the gym teachers all blew their whistles and sent everyone to the showers. Of course, as with the washrooms, girls and boys shared a single large room. There were shower heads and soap dispensers everywhere, and most of the students showered in pairs or groups. To Jon's surprise, Karen gave him very thorough and enjoyable scrubbing and rinse. Jon, of course, politely returned the favor. To say they were both satisfied would be a gross understatement.
After their shower, Jon and Karyn dried each other as they saw most of the other student doing. Apparently, this reduced the chance of receiving detention for covering oneself on school property. In fact, however, no one seemed to mind this arrangement.
Jon ended the day with Computer Science and Math, two classes that weren't much different from English and History. Twenty-five naked students, one naked teacher, one boring lecture: what's to notice? In Computer Science, however, one boy got detention for having pictures of clothed women on his hard disk.
Karyn's last two subjects were Math and Drama. Math was no weirder than any other naked class but drama was another matter. The class was attempting to perform a scene from Victor Victoria, which is about a woman who masquerades as a man who impersonates a woman. Without the clothes, it just wasn't working.
After school, Karyn met Jon as usual by the front door. "Pfew, that was weird," she stated.
"No kidding," Jon agreed. "What do you feel like doing now? I mean, it's not like we have to change."
"Right," Karyn agreed. "Let's go see what the mall is like."
