She rolled the die across the floor and it came up as ... gray.
Jon looked up and saw that Karyn's hair had changed color. It was now long gray hair. It was strange to see someone so young with gray hair.
"Hey," Karyn said.
"What?"
"How come my hair changed? I thought wishes couldn't be contradicted."
"They can't. But you didn't wish to have gray hair."
"Huh?"
"You rolled the die and the die made you have gray hair. Basically, the dice are magical items apart from the stone."
"Oh."
"Is that why you picked the hair color one? So that you could just stay the same?"
"Maybe. But I guess it doesn't matter. Everyone's like this. And it's only for a day."
"Okay, then. Let's get to school." They grabbed their backpacks and left Jon's bedroom, with the magic dice still sitting on the floor.
