She rolled the die across the floor and it came up as ... Stoners.
Suddenly, Karyn felt a lot different. She really needed something, but wasn't sure what it was she needed. She got up and went over to Jon's desk and hastily went through his drawers. She stopped when she thought she found something. She pulled out the box. It was a cigarette box.
"Karyn, what are you doing?" asked Jon, who also felt as weird as Karyn.
She took out a cigarette and said "This will have to do." She put it in her mouth.
"Wait a minute, Karyn. You don't smoke."
But she lit up and smoked it as if she had always done so.
"Yeah, that's better," she said, as she relaxed a bit more. "Not great. But better."
Jon saw Karyn enjoying her cigarette so much that he wanted one too. So, he got up and got one. After lighting up, he felt a whole lot better.
Karyn was so obsessed with finding something to smoke that she didn't look to see what the die came up as. "What does the die say?"
"It says ... Stoner."
"Stoner?! So that's why I needed one of these."
"Do you want to stop?"
"Fuck no. I like it." Jon was a bit shocked by Karyn. She didn't usually use such harsh language.
They just sat in Jon's bedroom, smoking away, and about five to ten minutes later, Jon noticed the clock. "Shit. School's gonna start soon." After saying that, he realized that he had cussed just like Karyn. It's like he wasn't thinking straight. He had to keep his mind under control. He just had to.
"We better get going, Karyn."
"Oh, okay," she said, giving in.
They grabbed their backpacks and left Jon's bedroom.
