"Jon, don't you want to get married the proper way, with friends and family? Not here at the mall," Karyn said, hoping it was an excuse that made sense.
He looked a little dejected, but then his face lit up. "Oh, but I can fix that. I'll just use the stone to wish them all here."
"No, wait," Karyn said, before sighing. "It's not just that. I need some time to process all of this. I want a real wedding. Not some quickie chapel ceremony. Maybe we could do this the proper way? Not use the stone for it all?"
Jon looked disappointed, for a moment. Then he smiled. "As long as we still get married, it's all fine to me. So, I guess we're engaged then."
"Actually, you never proposed to me, so ..."
Jon looked at her oddly. "Karyn, the guy isn't the one who proposes. It's the girl."
"Oh, uh, right," Karyn said, forgetting that gender roles were reversed in this reality, not just clothing. "So, uh, can I use the stone to wish up an engagement ring?"
"No way, Karyn. You said you didn't want to use the stone for all this. That means you have to go buy a ring for me. Make sure it's really beautiful, though. I want to show it off to all my boy-friends."
"Uh, okay," Karyn said, reluctantly. If she couldn't use the stone, how the hell was she going to buy an engagement ring? She hadn't saved up enough money for anything like that.
