Jon's jaw dropped when he saw how his family had changed. If everybody dressing the same was weird, this was completely absurd.
From the neck down, they all had the same body. Female for sure, but certainly not his mother's body. Thin, tan, and absolutely stacked. And stuffed into a yellow monokini. It was the body of a twenty-something bikini model. They had their original heads, but their faces were totally dolled up with lip gloss, mascara, and eyeshadow. Long, smooth, tan legs were perched atop black stiletto pumps. They no longer looked all that concerned about Jon's well-being.
His mother finally snapped him out of his gawking.
"Quit staring! Geez, you'd think after living with us your whole life you'd get used to it."
Whole life? So obviously this is how they thought they always looked.
"Sorry, Mom." Jon said.
"Mom?!" she scoffed, "Does this look like the body of a mom?"
His dad chirped in, "Yeah, do you think we'd let ourself get pregnant with bodies like this?"
"Stretch marks would kill our career," Mikey chimed in.
"Career?" Jon wondered aloud.
"Earth to Jon," Zoe said, "Have you been living under a rock forever?" She picked up a magazine from the coffee table and tossed it to Jon, who stared in awe at the cover.
It was Sports Illustrated, the swimsuit edition. Sure enough, on the cover was his whole family, sporting their "new" bodies and skimpy bikinis, posing together on some beach somewhere. The headline simply read "Mindy!"
"Mindy?" Jon asked.
"That's, like, our name, doofus," his dad said.
"You're all named Mindy?"
His sister rolled her eyes. "God, you really are losing it. How could you forget our name?"
Jon obviously didn't have an answer. Luckily, he was interrupted by his mom.
"We've gotta go, girls," she said. "The shoot starts in 20 minutes."
They each gave a little wave to Jon as they minced out of the house. Jon followed them, briefly in awe of four amazing female bodies moving so gracefully, until he reminded himself of who they really were... in his mind anyway. They got into a black land rover and sped off through the neighborhood, leaving Jon standing in the driveway, trying to make sense of things.
Jon's mind was filled with questions. Why were they changing? Nobody had the stone. Why did he still notice the changes, and why wasn't he changed? What was with the lightning? Jon got an answer to at least one question when he glanced up. In the distance sat a huge, billowing storm cloud. That wasn't such an odd sight. Jon had seen plenty of storms. What was odd was the cloud's purple hue.
Jon began running, down the street. He had to find Eric and Keith before any more weird stuff happened. But he wondered if Eric and Keith would still be themselves once he found them...
