I sat on the wall after class, nervously fingering the box and swinging my legs. It was the first day of school after spring break and had been one of the most stressful I'd ever endured. I hadn't dared carry the box around with me all day in case I misplaced it or someone thought they might borrow it, and that meant leaving it in my locker.....ERROR DETECTED IN STREAM..... That turned out to be an even worse plan - I was on the edge of my seat throughout every lesson, worrying that someone would break into my locker and take the box. It was irrational anxiety and I knew it: the lockers were all well-protected with combination locks, and it was vastly unlikely that anyone would ever keep anything in there which was particularly valuable.....SKIPPING PORTION IN ATTEMPT TO CORRECT ERROR..... Plus it was a good school; everyone was pretty honest in general and we'd only had a very few incidents if theft in all the time I'd been there.

...BZZT.. Her short red hair was in its normal unruly state and she displayed her quirky grin as she spotted me slouched on the wall.
When she finally reached me, she leapt up onto the wall with somewhat more ease than I'd managed earlier.
"Hey, Jon-boy! How's it going? Good break?"....KREECKKK....
I grinned sheepishly......BREAAAKKK..."what was that?"
I know right that was a weir...RELOOP...
She shrugged, "You know, same-old, same-old. There's only so many snowy mountain peaks you can gaze at in wonder in a lifetime.
"What are you talking about, did you not hear that" interrupted Jon.
Karen continued on as if Jon had said nothing "...I might have to give the old spring break tradition a miss next year and just hang out with you."
.........FWOOOOSH....
"WHAT IS THAT" Jon shouted pointing at a huge purple rip that had appeared in the middle of the area that they were sitting..
"Anything of interest to report while I was away?" she asked.
"Of course there is, there's a big hole over there, can you not see it? replied Jon
Her face fell, "Oh, Jon, I'm so sorry. I know you were close. What happened? He wasn't all that old, was he?
Meanwhile in the magic research facility in an unknown location.
"Sir, I have to report that there is a major Error in the Earth-1414 testing field."
"Earth-1414? Which one is that?"
"The one we let a teenager have access to one of the most powerful artefacts to test to see what scenarios we should prepare for should we actually lose it"
"Oh that one? Just reset it early and write in the report, that scenario is constantly being reset anyway it shouldn't cause too much of an issue with one bad result"
"I'm afraid we are having difficulties with that sir, the process seems to have evolved and is trying its hardest to remain on its current path, it could corrupt other reality's we have in this section."
"Uh....Have you tried turning it on and off again?"
"Wont that have a lasting effect. Reality's need to be carefully shut down, there has never been a forced shut down in any of the reality's"
"Well it seems we haven't much choice, we could wait to see what happens but judging from this report, it would not be favourable at this time, create a backup save of this problem and we will test the problem itself at a later time under more secure circumstances."
"Forcing shut down as you requested Sir."
Back on Earth 1414
..."Not a chance." She crossed her arms over her chest. "I mean, I'm as open minded as the next girl, but this is just plain silly."
