"I wish," said Jon, "that we have a flying carpet that obeys thought commands from me or Karyn, and can fly fast enough to get to Europe in an hour. I also wish that we can't fall off the flying carpet and it's perfectly safe to ride. Hmm, one other thing. I wish that the flying carpet only obeys commands when we mean for them to be commands. Accidental wishes are bad enough, we don't need accidental trips to Australia."

A carpet appeared in front of Jon and Karyn, with a poof. Jon walked over to the carpet and sat down. It was mostly maroon and white with silver and gold threads, ten feet long and six feet wide, with plenty of room to sit. "Come on, Karyn," he said. "Let's go!"

Jon concentrated and directed the carpet towards the path and then down it. It seemed to take some time to speed up, like a car, but soon the ground was moving past them quickly, yet they barely felt any speed.

"We must be be moving a hundred miles an hour," said Karyn. "But I hardly feel anything."

"That's good," said Jon, "we don't want the air blowing on us at a hundred miles an hour, after all."

They soon passed a small Indian village. The people there yelled and others came out to watch the carpet. "I wonder what they think of us," said Jon. "When we get back to the 21st century would we find there's a local legend about a flying carpet?"

"So where's Europe?" asked Karyn.

"Oh, good point. I wish that we had a map on the carpet that would change as we move, sort of like a computer screen, except it's woven into the carpet and magically changes on command. Okay! Carpet, show me us and Europe." In front of Jon, part of the carpet's design changed to show a map, about a foot wide, depicting the Atlantic ocean, half of North America, and half of Europe. A white dot in the map showed their current position. "Okay! Now, I wish we had a nice picnic lunch."

Jon concentrated and the carpet sped up much faster. As they ate Jon took glances at the map, where the white dot slowly changed position.

"Well, it looks like we're not eating lunch in Italy," said Jon, "but we could always have dinner there. So anything else you want to do before we get there?"

"Sure," replied Karyn, "why not...."
