Gears turned in Karyn's head. Well, in truth, they didn't, because electronic brains are made with computer chips, not gears. But Karyn did manage to figure it out.
"The robot wished that the city was populated by robots," she explained. "It didn't say anything about what happens outside the city. So we just need to wish that we change back when we leave the city, then we leave."
"Okay," said Jon. "I wish that me and Karyn will become human when we leave this city, and that means the city of this time so we'll change back by time travelling too. There you go.
Jon felt the usual sensation of a wish, but nothing else. But then, she shouldn't feel anything else--they wouldn't change until they leave. "I'll still be a girl when we change back, but at least I'll be a human one," she said. "Now, back to the past, where we wanted to go?"
"Naaah," replied Karyn. "I want to look around here for a little while. You know, as far as everyone else knows, this was always a robot city. Nobody else here remembers being human."
"What can we do?" asked Jon. "Get a hot cup of oil? See a movie by directly feeding data into our head?"
"I don't know," said Karyn. "Wait a minute... Of course. I'm programmed with a map of the city. So I know that right around the corner we can go to...."
