They were shocked to see a round metal object the size of a cruise liner, sitting on the ground with a ramp coming out of it. A dead velociraptor was there, and around it were clustered a half dozen short greyish creatures with large rounded heads, some holding strange-looking guns.
At the approach of the humans, the creatures became agitated and started to speak in some strange chittering language.
"I wish," said Karyn, "that we speak and know the language of these creatures perfectly."
Then they could make out the words that the creatures were saying.
"Intelligent lifeforms!"
"Those are clothes and tools, they must be intelligent!"
"No, it is impossible! We detected no intelligent life here! If this planet has intelligent life we are not allowed to stay here!"
"But they must be intelligent!"
"Then we must destroy them so we can say the planet has no intelligent life!"
At this point, there was plenty for Jon and Karyn to figure out they might be in trouble. So they....
