"Hmm," said Kay. "It's not just saying you're evil, it's going back and forth. Maybe that means that there's more than one Jon running around and one is evil and one isn't?"

"I wish I knew whether Kay was right," said Jon. The alphabet soup moved again, forming the word "Yup."

"It's strange," said Kay when the school day was over. "It's like the past fifteen years never happened. I'm the same age, going to the same school, coming back to the same home, with Mom and everything... I just wish it could stay that way."

Karyn winced at hearing the phrase 'I wish,' but Jon was the one who had the stone.

"But it can't," said Kay. "It might still not be all over. We need to investigate."

"I've been thinking myself," said Jon. "If this evil 'me' has the stone, we're in so much trouble that we have to assume he's using a time machine and he doesn't have the stone. But he knows about the stone. So he'd use his time machine."

"I don't get it," said Karyn.

"It means," said Jon, "that our troublemaker is going into the past to get the stone when it was just lying around. So we can find him by doing the same thing. Want to rest for the night before we go searching?"

"Sure, I haven't been home in fifteen years!" said Kay.

The next morning, Jon, Karyn, and Kay gathered together. And Jon made his wish. "I wish we three would travel in time to...."
