From somewhere off in the distance, there was a loud bang.
"What was that?!" asked a startled Karyn.
"It sounded like an explosion."
"An explosion? Here? How could that be? We're millions of years in the past."
"I don't know, but ..."
Jon was cut off as what sounded like gunshots echoed from far off in the distance.
"That sounded like gunfire," Jon said.
"What's going on here?"
